In his growing success, New York multi-instrumentalist and producer Ben Carr, better known as CARRTOONS, continues to be defined by his musical roots in soul and jazz. His retro-inspired sound runs deep, the electric bass operating in the foreground of his intricate, rhythmic portraits. Carr’s affinity for jazz was refined during his time studying at SUNY Purchase Conservatory and fine tuning impulses shaped by early influences Thundercat and Madlib. After receiving his degree in Jazz Performance, Carr hit the road to tour with Mad Satta/Joanna Teters.

Success wasn’t immediate but it was swift, mostly in part to Carr’s steadfast work ethic. For CARRTOONS, something is always in the works—he knows the music is found in every moment. Since beginning work as CARRTOONS in 2017, Carr’s steady output of viral videos and the palpable buzz around each new release has spiked demand for his sounds. The unique basslines and compositions that color his music have led him to a recent performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk, and commercial placements with Supreme, Nike, MAX, and Peacock. Carr has collaborated with pivotal names across genres, from Usher to Mac Ayres, George Clinton, Robert Glasper, Nate Smith, Kiefer, and beyond.

CARRTOONS’ success culminated in the release of 2022’s Homegrown: Across its breezy 14 tracks, the project has amassed 3o million streams on Spotify alone, massively contributing to CARRTOONS’ seismic 40 million listens across the platform. His music quickly translated to the stage with sold out shows in New York, Los Angeles, and London. Ahead of a 2024 tour, CARRTOONS HAS RELEASED seVENTH album “Saturday Night”, another showcase of his singular ability to taste-make and expand his talents into new dimensions.
